The ol’ Lady Trooper 114Z may be one of the greatest females we have ever raised. Time after time, she delivered a top calf while maintaining the kind of condition, soundness and productivity we strive for in our cow herd.
We flushed Lady Trooper extensively, and the proof is in the pudding. Her influence runs deep through the Mar Mac program.
Named Show Heifer Calf of the Year in 2013 and Overall Show Female of the Year in 2014, she proved to be even more valuable in production. Flushed extensively, her influence runs deep through the Mar Mac Red Angus program.

Bonita’s journey at Mar Mac began as a bred heifer purchased through a Brylor Female Sale. If there is one word that best describes the Bonita cow family, it is consistency. Generation after generation, this family has never let us down.

The Favorite Cow Family
Favourite was purchased through the Spring Creek Dispersal, bringing fresh, outcross genetics into our program. We saw her potential immediately, and she quickly entered our ET program. In just three years, Favourite produced an impressive 37 embryos.
We have been extremely impressed with the quality of her Lincoln and Advance daughters. They are the kind of females we had hoped Favourite would produce—functional, powerful and built to become productive brood cows.
Favourite may be one of the newer cow families at Mar Mac, but she has made an impact in a short amount of time.

The Sierra Cow Family
The Siera cow family traces back to one of the females we purchased with the Buck Valley program. The Buck Valley females brought valuable outcross genetics into our herd, and we continued to build on that foundation by using outcross sires.
A mating to SAV Resource produced the female who would take this family to another level—Siera 12B. She went on to produce Red Mar Mac Lincoln, one of the most influential sires we have raised.
Lincoln has certainly made his mark, but you should see his daughters. They are the kind of productive, maternal females that have made the Siera family such an important part of our herd.

The Ruby cow family traces back to a heifer purchased from Broken Heart Ranch in South Dakota, and longevity has been a trademark of this family from the beginning. The original Ruby went on to raise an impressive 14 calves.
Her daughter, Ruby 58J, carried on that tradition, producing 10 calves. Among her most influential offspring was Ruby 10T, the female who brought the Ruby cow family to the forefront of our program.
10T left her mark by producing multiple herd sires along with a strong set of functional, productive females.

The Frado Cow Family
The Frado cow family traces back to a female we leased from Robert Leys. We bred her to Red McRae’s Blazer, and from that mating came Frado 53J—a female whose influence would help lay the foundation for our Red Angus cow herd.
The Frados were ahead of their time for the Red Angus breed. 53J was known for producing calves with extra width and a wide pin set, while still being extremely easy keeping. Her bull calves were consistently well accepted by our commercial cattlemen, but it was her daughters that really established the Frado legacy.
They were the kind of females we built a cow herd around—long-lasting, trouble-free and easy fleshing. They held their condition, bred back early, raised strong calves and milked from beautiful, tidy udders.
